Our January 23, 2023 program featured Gerry Messmer, Lt. Col. (Retired) taking us on his 2019 “crazy trek of 2000 miles re-creating the journey of William Henry Ashley." In 1825 Ashley traveled from southwest Wyoming to St. Louis to bring his beaver pelts to market, establishing the western fur trade rendezvous system that opened up westward expansion.
Walter Gable, Seneca County Historian, was the guest speaker at our January 25, 2021 program on the UGRR in Southern Seneca County. Seneca County is located in the Finger Lakes region of New York State, between Seneca and Cayuga Lakes.
The Interlaken Historical Societyś Plowing Day & Country Fair is a harvest time festival celebrating the agricultural history of Seneca County.
